So lately I've been giving myself a little bit of a makeover -- some "spit and polish," if you will. Between getting healthier, losing weight, cutting my hair, and even sprucing up my wardrobe, I've started to feel like a fresher person.
With this, I decided my business finally needed its own makeover. I'm starting a new chapter of my life, and the business gets to enjoy some "sprucing up" as well.
The question was, what to do with it? It's a question I've sat on and pondered for a couple of months. I went back and forth -- do I want my name as part of the new company? Just a catchy word or phrase? There were advantages (and of course disadvantages) to both. A catchy title can be more memorable, and gender neutral. But then again, I like my clientele to know WHO they are actually hiring.
Well, inspiration can come from the most unexpected places sometimes.
Mine came during a conversation with my mother. It was something we had discussed multiple times, and we consistently reached a stalemate. But then, I started talking about what I like in a wedding. "Simple elegance," I said.
And all of a sudden, I heard "Oh my gosh, that's it! That's your new name! Simple Elegance By Laura."
It was perfect. It was the best of both worlds -- a title, my name (so you know who you're getting)...and it says a little bit about who I am as well.
So this is the new business.
Let the christening begin!
