One of my favorite things about autumn -- not surprisingly -- is the fantastic colors!
Autumn leaves...I love them. :-)

Autumn Engagements
Hey, remember that fun Victorian bride and groom?
We did their engagements in autumn. Autumn colors and a sweet couple? Yes, please! :-)

First Day of Fall
Autumn is quite probably my favorite season. Crisp air, fall foliage, the start of the Holiday Season...autumn just basically rocks.

Ahoy! and Other Nautical Expressions
Arrrrr! Avast, mateys! Heave to and make ready to set sail.
That's right, me hearties, it be National Talk Like a Pirate Day. Time to hoist our colors, fly the ol' Jolly Roger, and leave all land behind to take to the open sea.
Now, who's ready for some swashbucklin' adventures?

Autumn Wind
Wind can be SUCH fun with a long veil! Tricky, yes. But lots of fun.

St. George Temple
Among my (various) favorite things to capture are the LDS Temples. They can be found all over, but of course there are QUITE a few in Utah. The St. George Temple is a classic, and the last one to be found as you leave South Utah.
Just a little something for a Sunday -- one of many Holy Places.

New facebook page!
So, as part of my official "re-vamp" for my business, I was able to change my facebook page. More "Simple Elegance" to love!

Victorian Bridals and Groomals
I love getting unique brides and grooms. This particular couple went in stunning Victorian style, and it was so much fun! I'm all for bringing back bustles and flounces in a classic bridal gown. :-)
The day we shot these was quite a windy one. It can sometimes be a bit tricky, but if you employ a little bit of quick thinking and resourcefulness, not to mention a fair amount of patience, you can have a lot of fun with it.
Fortunately, I had a forward-thinking bride, and though she didn't wear a veil, she thought to bring a length of chiffon, and we were able to play with that a little.

New Beginnings
So lately I've been giving myself a little bit of a makeover -- some "spit and polish," if you will. Between getting healthier, losing weight, cutting my hair, and even sprucing up my wardrobe, I've started to feel like a fresher person.
With this, I decided my business finally needed its own makeover. I'm starting a new chapter of my life, and the business gets to enjoy some "sprucing up" as well.
The question was, what to do with it? It's a question I've sat on and pondered for a couple of months. I went back and forth -- do I want my name as part of the new company? Just a catchy word or phrase? There were advantages (and of course disadvantages) to both. A catchy title can be more memorable, and gender neutral. But then again, I like my clientele to know WHO they are actually hiring.
Well, inspiration can come from the most unexpected places sometimes.
Mine came during a conversation with my mother. It was something we had discussed multiple times, and we consistently reached a stalemate. But then, I started talking about what I like in a wedding. "Simple elegance," I said.
And all of a sudden, I heard "Oh my gosh, that's it! That's your new name! Simple Elegance By Laura."
It was perfect. It was the best of both worlds -- a title, my name (so you know who you're getting)...and it says a little bit about who I am as well.
So this is the new business.
Let the christening begin!
